What We Do

100 Years of Confronting Our Region’s Complex Challenges

Democracy thrives when power is accountable and people are informed. Celebrating our 100th anniversary, the Haynes Foundation has been a leading force in moving the LA County region toward better governance and a healthy democracy. We invest in research that tackles real community challenges, fosters civic engagement, and connects people and institutions in the shared goal of strengthening local government. Together, we can use the power of government to
help our region thrive and grow.

GOVERNANCE & DEMOCRACY

Supporting LA County Reform

With the voter-approved passing of LA County governance reform (Measure G) in 2024, the Haynes Foundation has a renewed commitment to strengthening local governance and democracy. We do so by supporting action-oriented research and collaboration that bring about positive reform in the way our region’s local governments and democracies serve communities and solve problems.

GRANTS

Research Into Action

Reform is powered by research. For 100 years, the Haynes Foundation has worked to help make this research possible. We fund initiatives that promise meaningful impact for communities across the LA region.
